irst favourite song I actually remember having would be from a driving holiday when I was about 6 (my parents were masochists who decided that driving round the South of France with three children under 6 was a good idea). The cassette player in the family Volvo was an ancient and unreliable device; for some reason it decided that it loved M People's 'Elegant Slumming' and never wanted to spit the tape out again, so we listened to it for two weeks straight. When I am old(er) and grey(er) I expect the opening bars of Movin' On Up will still conjure the smell of overheated car...
